About Me
I work as a Fractional Digital Director with arts, cultural, environmental, and mission-driven organizations that need clarity, stability, and experienced judgment across their digital systems—without adding a full-time role.
My work sits at the intersection of art, technology, and storytelling. That intersection shapes how I think about digital platforms: as long-term systems that should quietly support mission, engagement, and fundraising.
How I Work
I help organizations bring structure and continuity to websites, email systems, analytics, and digital storytelling. Rather than focusing on isolated tasks, I take responsibility for the digital ecosystem as a whole—helping leadership and staff make informed decisions and avoid unnecessary complexity.
I value durability over novelty, clarity over volume, and stewardship over short-term fixes.
If you’re small or mid‑sized, stretched thin, and juggling complex digital needs, this work is designed for you.
Background
My professional path has been intentionally cross-disciplinary. I came to digital work through art and design, and into systems and strategy through a long-standing interest in technology and education.
I studied Agricultural and Environmental Education at West Virginia University, with a focus on communications and technology, and later completed a master’s degree. I taught university-level computer courses, consulted on early institutional web systems, and developed technology-focused continuing education programs for educators.
In 2000, I founded Carr Designs, a web and multimedia practice that allowed me to work across design, development, and digital strategy. Over time, that work expanded into senior digital roles within environmental, cultural, healthcare, and mission-driven organizations.
Today, I focus on fractional digital leadership, working with organizations that need steady guidance, not constant reinvention.
Fit
I work best with organizations that:
- Care about long-term stewardship
- Value clarity over hype
- Need senior-level digital leadership without unnecessary overhead
